Skirlaugh Bulls v Hull Isberg

Hull Isberg was the visitors to Eastside. They started the better and got on to the score sheet first with a good try; this seemed to be the spark our boys needed. With some good runs from Oliver Agar and Oliver Hemsworth the boys started to go forward, with the organising from Ben Ellis and the support from Tom Danby, the ball managed to find its way to Ben McNamara who scored the first try and he converted his goal. With us just edging into the lead Hull Isberg came fighting back and scored there next try and this time they converted the goal putting them back in front. Alfie Shultz and Kai Fowler kept the ball going forward this laid a good foundation for Jay Smallwood who did some good runs from dummy half and set up Tom Danby to cross over the line next and he converted his goal. Time for some changes and this introduced Riley Wilson and Josh Berndtson who continued to make yards up the field with some strong running, this resulting in Ben Ellis running in a good try in the corner and he managed to convert his try. With half time approaching the defence was tested again and some big tackles from Joe Moore, Sam Adams and Bradley Garrod, George Cochran and Tom Danby combined well and stopped Hull Isbergs bigger lads from making too many yards.

The second half started with the boys stepping up a gear, with some good running from Tyler Mellor and Luke Armstrong out on the wings with support from Keiron Boyd and Tom Danby. The boys started to make good yards with Riley Wilson and Josh Berndtson who scored a try at the end of one o f his runs he then converted his goal. On a good defensive display we managed to counter attack and Tyler Mellors ran in the next try with Riley Wilson Converting the goal. Our go forward was maintained by Kai Fowler and Alfie Shultz with support from Bradley Garrod and Keiron Boyd who scored next. With the game coming to an end we managed to score again this time from a good run from Alfie Shultz who backed himself to score. In the second half our defensive display was much improved managing to not allow Hull Isberg to score so putting into practice what was being taught in training.
