Senior Tournaments

The Mackay and District Rugby Union competition has been running since the mid-1970's, with the Slade Point Rugby Union Club being a part of the competition since its inception. Slade Point are the most successful club in the competition, having one nearly half of the A Grade premierships on offer over the years. Slade Point won an unprecedented 4 A Grade premierships in a row from 2005 to 2008.


The 2012 season will see teams from Slade Point, Cities, Brothers, Kuttabul, Bowen and Whitsunday compete in a 15-round competition, starting in April, and climaxing with the final series and Grand Final in September at Mackays Quarry Hill. Slade Point will also have a team in the 5-team Reserve Grade competition, where they will be aiming for 3 premierships in a row.


A pre-season 7s tournament will also precede this competition, where Slade Point will be entering teams. A revamped representative schedule is also on the agenda this year, where Slade Point players will figure prominently in the Mackay and District representative side, who will play Cairns, Townsville and Central Highlands teams. Slade Point players will also participate in various sevens competitions throughout Qld along with the North Qld games which will be held in Mackay in June.
