Slashers go down by 1 to Kuttabul

Unfortunately the Slashers Reggies side went down by 1 point in the Reserve Grade Grand Final vs Kuttabul at Quarry Hill on Saturday. The score ended up 21-20 made up of two tries, one conversion and three penalties to 3 tries, one conversion and one penalty.

The coaching staff highlighted how proud they were of the way the boys went, everyone played awesome. It was too hard to pick a 3-2-1. The score was 5-3 at half time with the Slashers going into a stiff breeze and the try being scored by Sean Hikaka. Early in second half a penalty was kicked by Jesse Meineke. After about 15 mins sladies went over through interchange player Andy Pitt. This made it Slade Point 13 Kuttabul 6. With mearly seconds on the clock Kuttabul kicked ahead, regathered and scored beneath the uprights and converted to make it 13 a piece full time. Sladies continued after the stoppage with the breeze where Kuttabul scored early but missed the conversion and took the lead for the first time in the match 18-13. We turn in extra time and go again eventually scoring through Sean Hikaka again. The conversion was successful by Jesse Meineke making it 20-18. Ill discipline (and more likley questionable refereeing) very late in the extra time cost Sladies their 3rd premiership in a row. Very hard way to finish a season plagued with injury for the club.
