Brampton 0 Soham Town Rangers Reserves 2 Kershaw Senior A - Saturday 17/04/10 A rare Saturday outing for the Reserves, who travelled to Brampton for the last of four remaining games.

After the defeat at Mildenhall the Greens needed points to make mathematically sure that a season of under achievement doesn't end in relegation. Missing experienced players including Tommy Crawford, Soham had to weather a 15 minutes onslaught on a crusty rock hard pitch. Cool defending by Bellchamber and Brasher and good hands from Overton allowed the young Reserves to play there way into the game. Christie and Reynolds were causing the Brampton back four a number of issues supported by excellent play out wide from Allen and Davis. A series of bright Soham moves and controlled possession resulted in a well earned goal two minutes before half-time. A corner from the left evaded most in the crowded box but Bellchamber collected at the far side of the box and crossed for Scott Lightfoot to side foot home from close range. Brampton again came at Soham and forced a couple of good saves from Overton but in particular Lightfoot at right back and Lines at left back impressed coolly either running the ball from defence or hitting the right passes to clear the danger. All game the young pairing of Dan Sterna and Jake Fuller battled in the dust bowl that was centre midfield and seldom did they come off second. Jordan Alexander came on after an hour to replace the impressive Reynolds, and a free kick was passed 40 yards to Allen free on the right wing, and he coolly cut in and slipped the perfect ball for Dan Sterna to side foot home for Soham's second. Brampton huffed and puffed and did draw Ryan Overton into one superb near post save but couldn't penetrate the impressive Soham back line. Final score Brampton 0 - 2 Soham Town Rangers Reserves Summary: After a Jekyll and Hyde season from the young Reserves, today saw another example of the capability that they have. Looking after club interests with Seymore and Alexander on the bench everyone played their part in a very good performance. The less said about the behaviour of Brampton management or the overall performance of the official the better. Three points which resulted in league safety, and with nine still to play for, perhaps a climb up to the top half of the table? Overton, Lightfoot, Lines (Seymore), Brasher, Bellchamber, Allen, Sterna, Fuller, Davis, Christie (Cowlan), Reynolds (Alexander) Unused: Taylor
