Ray Harrison has stood down as Reserve Team Manager to become part of the management team at Thurlow Nunn Downham Town.

Ray informed the club and the players of the news following the Greens’ Cliff Bullen Cup defeat at home to Wisbech St Mary last weekend.

Harrison joined the club at the beginning of last season from neighbours Ely City following the departure of former manager Wayne Lockwood, guiding the club to a twelfth-place finish in the table.

Following on from this news, the club can now announce that Chris (CJ) Gibson has taken over the role, with the assistance of Dale Isaacson.
With no game this weekend, their first game in charge will be next Saturday at home to Cottenham United.

CJ returns to an official role within the club having spent the last year out recovering from a broken leg sustained whilst playing for the Reserves in May 2016, whilst he was player/coach.
Prior to this, he had spent ten years with the Under 18s, firstly as assistant before being promoted to manager.

Dale has been associated with the club for a number of years, helping with the running of the team on and off the field, before being appointed Ray’s assistant at the beginning of the season.

Following the change, CJ commented:
First of all, I wish Ray luck in his role over at Downham Town - He has done a good job with the Reserves over the last year and built a team of potential, but the chance to try his luck higher is a pull. Little like this for me, as soon as I was asked I knew I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to fill in.
Since leaving the club, I’ve supported and resisted the temptation from previous offers, but this one was something I can’t say no to. There is such a good core of lads here and although maybe performances and results haven’t reflected that at times this season, I have every confidence it’s going to turn around. Obviously with Dale remaining and having a role with the lads already, it’s a good support to have, as well as the backing from the club.
I just have to convince the lads that want to stay and play that they are good enough to play here and we get the basics done and get some points on the board.
A couple of cup exits gives us a chance to regroup and concentrate on the league but I do know that with the squad we have that we will give 100%. We may need a couple of extras to come in, but the squad is good enough as it is to get us results!

The club would like thank Ray for his hard work during his time at the Lane, whilst wishing him, Chris and Dale all the best for the future in their new roles.
