Following Ian Benjamin’s decision to stand down as Soham’s 1st Team Manager, the club have announced that former striker Andy Furnell has agreed to take over the role next season with the assistance of Andy Coleman.

34-year-old Furnell left the club last July to return to Fenland neighbours Wisbech Town after spending six years at the Lane, during which time he scored 97 goals in 289 appearances, and was part of the squad that won the 2008 Ridgeons League title. Andy originally joined the Greens from Wisbech in 2004, having previously played for a number of clubs including Peterborough United and Stamford, as well as appearing for England Schoolboys.
Andy Coleman is currently in his second spell with the Greens, having returned to the Lane towards the end of the 2003/04 season from Wisbech Town. The defender was also part of the Ridgeons League title-winning side, and in total has scored 12 goals in his 276 appearances. Prior to joining Soham for the first time in 2000 from Warboys Town, Andy was associated with both Peterborough United and Rushden & Diamonds.

The club would like to welcome Andy Furnell back to the club and wish the pair well for the future.
