After ten years at Soham, midfielder Peter Hinde has left the club to sign for neighbours Ely City, who have just been promoted to the Ridgeons Premier Division.

Hinde, who signed for the club from Histon, went on to become Club Captain, and although appearances were limited in the last couple of seasons due to injury, played 296 times for the Greens, scoring 33 goals. His final game for Soham came against Needham Market on the final day of last season, when he came on as a substitute, before lifting the Championship trophy, along with Michael Simpson. Recently in the Newmarket Journal, Ian Benjamin said Peter has been a wonderful servant to this club and we will go along with his wishes although we are very sorry to lose him and he leaves with all our best wishes, whilst Ely Manager Dennis Lightning told his club website Peter Hinde will provide the leadership and experience we will need next season and we are delighted to have signed someone of his quality. Peter is thanked for his services to the club over the last decade, and wished all the best for the future. Quotes from : :
