How would you like to earn a three year football contract at a semi-professional football club playing step four football

three divisions below the Conference?

Soham Town Rangers Football Club are looking at the future of young player development within local grassroots football. Unlike all the other College linked football programmes, Soham are offering five lucky players a three year contract so that each player has an opportunity at the end of the two years.
If you do not receive a contract you will still have the opportunity to apply for University either in England or America, to coach within Soham’s youth setup or in America or to play for Soham Town Rangers FC which allows you to stay within the game.

Over the past three years whilst Steve Fallon and Ian Hart have been in charge at the club, over twenty youth team players have had an opportunity within the First Team.
Currently Soham Town Rangers have six 17-20 year olds in the First Team, including Scott Davis, Matt Simpson, Alex Luque and Louis Monk, and twelve 17-20 year olds in the Reserve Team.

Soham Town Rangers are looking for twenty football players to endure on a two year football and education programme. The students will train and study during the week at the home of Soham Town Rangers and be able to play in the midweek floodlit league and at the weekend for Soham’s First team or Reserves.

Training will be taken and overseen by 1st Team Manager and former Cambridge United legend Steve Fallon, 1st Team Assistant Manager Ian Hart, who is an UEFA A Coach as well as Southend United’s Head of Coaching and Under 21 Coach, and Indie Darar, who is the Under 18’s Manager and a goalkeeping coach.
Staff will also include UEFA B coaches, fitness coach and physio.

The students will study on a BTEC Level 3 course and will need to achieve GCSE grades at C or above in both Maths and English and will have the opportunity to complete their FA Level 1 and Youth Module 1 in year one and their FA Level 2 in year two.

As part of this programme, each player will still be available to play for their Sunday youth teams and each Manager or Coach from the respective clubs would be invited to attend both First and Youth team training or matches to get a better insight to senior football coaching and management.

At the end of the two year football and education programme, five three year contracts will be available for the five fortunate players. To coincide with the contract, each player would also study on a University programme either in Sports Coaching, Sports Science or Football Management and train as a full time football player.
As part of this stats show that 96% of players signed on at sixteen years old never play again from the age of eighteen, Soham are looking to change this with our new approach.

During the three year University programme, each player/student will also gain experience working within our youth setup either at under 7-11’s or under 12-16’s and also have the opportunity to gain experience at a professional club.

If you are interested in applying, please fill out the attached application form below, send it to the enclosed addresses and either the Youth Team Manager or a member of the First Team Management will be in touch regarding an interview and trial, which will be held on Friday 20th February 2015.
