Wisbech St Mary 1 Soham Town Rangers 3 Ridgeons Youth League North - Tuesday 07/09/10 Soham continued their impressive start to the season with an easier game than the score line reflected.

Manager Chris Gibson tinkered slightly with his side, to allow Ridgeons debuts for several players. It was after 15 minutes that Soham found their break through, after controlling the quarter with possession, some great play by the away side saw James Seymour slot home from 10 yards. Soham continued to create, Elliott Drewery and Matt Simpson combining well to create an opening for Cameron Robb, but he hooked wide. The impressive centre midfield duo of Chris Munday and Simon Murfitt were spraying the ball round well as Soham dominated the entire half. The second came on the half hour; Drewerys delivery from a corner was pin point and Seymour rose highest to loop a header over the keeper and defender on the line. It was more possession than chances for the rest of the half, as Murfitt drove over from 25 yards and Seymour scuffed wide. Into the second half and Soham closed the game out; on 54 minutes good work from Ryan Collins after a corner wasnt cleared properly, saw Seymour scramble into the net for his hat trick. More chances fell to Soham as Munday, Murfitt, Seymour and Drewery had shots wide and Robb drew a good save from the Saints keeper. The Greens seemed to switch off in the last quarter of the game as St Marys got a late conciliation goal through a Ryan Collins own goal. Keeper Matt Phillips was called upon to make a good save from a lob, but Soham saw out the game for three points. After the game, Gibson was pleased to come home with the three points Its been a difficult week for me, so maybe my focus wasnt always on the football, but the boys went out there and did what they know I expect. We played some fantastic football, which is the most encouraging and pleasurable thing. We just need to learn not to switch off in areas of the game, as it could cost us against better sides. Phillips, Lowe, Collins, Sterna, Simpson, Cohen, Murfitt, Munday, Drewery (Orvis), Seymour (Shippey), Robb (Nunn) Unused: Wills, Taylor, Davis Man of the Match: James Seymour
