The Greens welcomed back Adam Clements from suspension and started brightly. After just 6 minutes Gareth Roberts header from Carmen's corner hit the underside of the bar and bounced out. Overall the first half was even with a fast attacking play from both teams. Rangers fell behind after 18 minutes when the otherwise excellent Littlechild and Roberts both somehow failed to cut out a low cross from the right and the ball was flicked in at the near post. Soham responded almost immediately and Sterna split the visitors defence but Clements, with just the keeper to beat shot over. On the stroke of half time Sterna's thunderous 20 yard drive was brilliantly saved by the Jockeys keeper. The second half was again very even with few chances. Chamberlain made an excellent save from an edge of the box shot and substitute Stevens put a difficult chance wide from close range and then just failed to connect properly with Clements far post cross. In the last minute Roberts hooked effort from a melee at a corner, somehow ended up on the roof of the net. A good performance without that vital goal which Sohams overall play deserved. There was a promising debut for 15 year old Ryan Lynch as a second half substitute. On the downside, Rangers ended up with two more injuries to Nathan Littlefair (Hamstring) and Aaron Carmen (Toe). Soham Team Chamberlain, Fitchett, Roberts, Littlechild, Littlefair (Cook), Sterna, Fuller, Riches, Clements, Carmen (R. Lynch), Suttle (Stevens) Unused: Mitchell (GK), Dan Miller Sohams next match is at home to Ely City on Thursday 8th November, 7.45pm kick off.
