Four goals from four different players as Thurrock turn over Town.

Thirty three games have passed before Thurrock meet Soham Town Rangers for the first time this season.

Thurrock were nearly one up in the first five minutes when Ross Wall almost played in L’heureux Menga but it was Soham who broke away to take the lead with a fine strike from Soham’s leading goalscorer Luke Stanley.
Thurrock didn't drop their heads though. Kurt Smith was fouled ten yards outside the box and Joe Christou flashed the free kick just over the bar in a dress rehearsal for later in the game. Moments later Kurt Smith’s corner was met by a powerful Ross Wall header which was saved on the line, Aaron Waters was first to the rebound and his header looked to be cleared by a defender’s arm but the official’s decision was a corner. Lewwis Spence met the corner bringing out another goal line clearance but only as far as Lewis Clark to shoot through the crowded box to equalise.
More chances came and Soham’s keeper Tom Warren twice punched the ball off the top of Aaron Waters' head whilst Thurrock’s back four kept things clean in front of Rhys Madden’s goal.
Kurt Smith worked his way into the area and brought out a top drawer save from Warren at close range before Ross Wall hit the side netting from a tight angle after being played in by Leslie Thomson. Joe Christou worked his way to the byline and pulled the ball back to Ross Wall to blast goalwards only to hit Menga who was unable to get out of the way.

The second half got underway with Soham moving their centre half up into a centre forward position but Thurrock were able to adapt.
Leslie Thompson got on the end of a long ball and cut inside his defender and played a pass towards L’heureux Menga which was cut out. Ross Wall received the ball on the edge of the area and worked well to make enough room to loose off a stinging shot that had to be palmed away for a corner.
Thurrock took the lead when L’heureux Menga was dragged to the floor by his neck on the edge of the area, the referee initially played the advantage but when Warren beat Thompson to the ball he called play back. In a repeat of the first half, Joe Christou stepped up to take the free kick and this time he hit the back of the net with an unstoppable effort.
Charlie Stimson returning from injury took over from Menga with twenty five minutes to play. Within five minutes he received a short corner from Thompson and played the ball back into his path for a thunderbolt which was turned in by Ross Wall.
The familiar Wall/Stimson partnership was soon in evidence as Wall played in to Stimson to feed the ball back to Thompson. Thompson’s cross had both Wall and Stimson waiting and Wall’s header was tipped over the bar but the linesman had already raised his flag.
Stimson was ever ready on the break getting caught offside a couple of times before getting his timing right to find himself one-on-one but Warren spread himself to deny the goal, Steven Carvell (who had replaced Thompson) curled the rebound wide of the far post.
In time added on, Stimson once again beat the offside trap and this time made no mistake lifting the ball over the diving keeper to round out the game.
