In a fast exciting game the Crows had the better of the first 15 minutes although the Rangers defence looked solid. The Greens gradually gained momentum with Troy Georgiades and Toby Mortimer linking well down the left in support of Michael Thomas' non stop running up front. Tom Jugg and James Prewett took a hold in midfield but the game remained goal less for an hour. Just after the break Sohams best chance fell to Will Ellis, put through by Jugg, but he fired into the side netting when well placed. Royston went ahead on 65 minutes with a speculative 20 yard dipping shot which Will Holmes should really have dealt with. Five minutes later it was 0-2 when Holmes did well to push a fierce low drive away when Rangers failed to clear a corner, but the loose ball fell kindly to a Royston player 6 yards out who scrambled it home. Soham continued to press and looked likely to get a goal back when the excellent Max Dunand slid in to make what seemed to be perfect contact with the ball, and despite no appeals from any Royston player the referee awarded a penalty which was converted for 0-3. Overall a decent hard working display against good standard skilful opponents with Tom Jugg having his best game so far and good performances from Troy Georgiades and Max Dunand. Sohams Jake Benton will be out for about six weeks after having confirmation of a fractured wrist sustained in an innocuous second half challenge and tumble.
