Soham Elite 0 v Peterborough Utd Youth 3 Youth Development Friendly Friday 08/10/10 Soham produced a hard working and disciplined performance against a good standard Posh team in an entertaining game.

The Greens' defence, well marshalled by Charley Lyons weathered early pressure from the visitors, whilst threatening with quick counter attacks. Rangers looked to have settled into the pace of the game when after 18 minutes the otherwise excellent Will Holmes was deceived by a long range cross cum shot to put Posh 1-0 ahead. Twice Soham penetrated the visitors left flank with Pete Maskell the architect but were denied by the Posh keeper. A lapse of concentration at a corner allowed the visitors to go 2-0 up just before the break. The hosts continued to improve as the game progressed and the indefatigable Juki Shiroo covered every blade of grass in midfield. Just when it looked as if the Greens might get enough momentum to reduce the arrears a slick move down the right produced a low cross which for once Andy Potter could not prevent and the ball was deftly turned in for 3-0 with eleven minutes of play remaining. This will have benefitted the Soham squad who adapted to the pace and tactical demands of the game gaining valuable input as part of their ongoing development. Holmes (Hewett), Dunand, Lyons, Pettifor, Potter, Mortimer (Benton), Shiroo, Prewett (Pitt), Jugg (Harwood), Maskell, Thomas (Enterman)
