Thetford Town Youth 1 v Soham Town Rangers Elite 2 Youth Development Friendly - Thursday 06/05/10 Sohams Elite squad ended the season as they began it with a good performance and a win over Ridgeons Youth opposition.

Rangers again included three trialists as well as giving a second half debut to Troy Georgiades recently recruited for next term's Elite squad. After an even opening 20 minutes, Soham fell behind following a mistake by Chris Munday, who allowed a Thetford player to cut in from the right and set up a simple finish. Rangers responded with some neat passing play and should have equalised when Michael Dennis put Mark Howlett-Foster through with just the keeper to beat but he slid his shot wide. The visitors drew level two minutes before the break; following a slick move down the left which released Dwayne Cohen just inside the box, the striker neatly sidestepped his marker and clipped a clever shot past the home keeper. Soham looked the better side in the second half although Thetford's two pacey wide men were a constant threat both shooting over when well placed. Rangers best chance came when the excellent Christian Cocksedge split the home defence to put Geogiades through but the striker hesitated for a split second allowing a defender to clear. Five minutes from the end clever interplay between Howlett-Foster and Cocksedge released Luke Smith down the left who beat his man and delivered a low cross to the far post where Cohen stole in to fire home. Overall this was an excellent performance with Christian Cocksedge the pick for the Greens, closely followed by Mark Howlett-Foster and Matty Simpson. Turner (Hewett), Lowe (Poulten), Shippey, Sax, Simpson (Georgiades), Smith (Parker), Dennis (Cocksedge), Munday (Cavaness), Howlett-Foster, Delacey (A Trialist), Cohen
