Trialist striker Tim Gbadeyan scored the only goal of the game after ten minutes when he followed up to convert from close range after City keeper Danny Naisbitt had denied Mason.
It was an evenly contested game throughout, but the Lilywhites had the better of the chances created with Bircham making a number of important saves to keep them out whilst both sides were guilty of missing others by firing ever wide or over.
