Soham Town Rangers 0 Enfield Town 4
Enfield Town stayed in contention with Leiston at the top of the table as they recorded a double over Soham with a 4-0 victory at the Lane.
Ogbonna fired low at Imber minutes into to the second half, whilst Enfield had a number of efforts off target before scoring a third just before the hour mark when David Kendall scrambled in Johnston’s corner at the far post. Shortly after Soham made a couple of changes as Coleman and Carter replaced Flanz and Jones and began to see their share of the play as Cotton and Brown had chances, whilst up the other end of the pitch Ewang curled his shot from the edge of the area at Jordan. Campbell, Escorcio, Hammatt and Matata were all introduced to the game before Liam Hope increased the visitor’s lead to four in the 87th minute curling a 25 yard freekick past Jordan. Sub Matata should have added a fifth moments later, but after getting goal side of the defence fired well over with only the keeper to beat before Ogbonna was denied what would have been a consolation in injury time when Imber denied the striker at the back post from Cotton’s corner.
This game proved to be the last one in charge for Andy Furnell, with former Histon manager Steve Fallon coming in to replacing the player/manager.
