After a fantastic season the colts sat down for the end of season dinner on Fri 6th may. The evening was well attended by the colts and some of there parents aswell as some senior members of the club. I would personally like to thank you all for coming and also thanks to the ladies who cooked the meal absolutely fantastic thanks again for turning up to share the evening with the future of southam rufc.
The awards were presented after some hard decisions to most improved player of the year Sam Bench and player of the year went to Jake Clews both awards were well deserved. The stats for the season were 22 games played sat 9 won 2 drawn and 11 defeats alongside this we polayed 8 midweek game won 6 lost 2. so an excellent number of games played from a squad of 32 players. I would also like to point out that some of these guys also played district u19s aswell as some playing full county games in both the u18s and u20s and When you consider the opposition we played this season both myself and mark are very pleased we have played teams such as Rugby lions and won Mosley, Nuneaton unfortunatelly lost, kenilworth on 3 occassions all fantastic games broadstreet on 3 occasions inc a 0-0 draw lutterworth won and leighton buzzard drawn these ar just to mention a few all teams playing ther senior rugby far higher than ourselves and teams that have well established colts.
Next season again we aim to pitch ouselves against the best sides both locally and nationally if needs be, but to continue this we need to recruit players so any player 16-19 and intrested in playing for this fastly growing colts set up should get in touch immediately with either myself Dan Winfield 01926810420/07795474429 or Mark Harvey 01926813539/07919398101. Finnally i would like to congratulate and thank the players that are to old for colts next season for their efforts and hard work over the last couple of seasons and long may they continue playing in the seniors here at southam its your club.
