Nuneaton Old Eds 5 - 47 Southam

Southam win 5 out 5 to go top of the league

Southam started the game well scoring off first phase ball. The tactics were to secure the ball at the breakdown from NOE’s big forwards and get the ball out wide to the quick Southam backs. This tactic worked through out the game making the most of NOE’s wide pitch.
Southam scores several tries through this tactic. Several debuts to the 2’s this season were made by Brammers, Jack Hewson, Dodd’s & Rich Llloyd Jones. Rich’s Ball carrying was immense and helped southam gain momentum.

NOE’s managed to score a try in the 1st half, there were several opportunities through out the game, but Southam defence held firm, as it has for the season. Southam kept the score line ticking over with kicks at goal from penalties awarded through high tackles and lack of respect for the referee from NOE’s. This resulting in two yellow cards for NOE’s, with 15 against 13, Southam managed to find the space on the field scoring more tries. Father and son duo Phil Evans & Tom Evans came on in the second half to help Southam Win their 5th league game out of 5.
This puts them top of the Warwickshire 2’s league. Try scorers we’re Ricky Hughes, Rich Lloyd’s - Jones, Charlie Rooney, Captain Phil Nichols and Dylan Robinson scoring two. Josh Tolley managed and impressive 12 points with the boots through conversations and penalties.

Man of the Match was Brammers with his constant pressure on NOE’s scrum half and his humorous and motivational chat during the game.
