The machine marches on
Southam 2’s V Broadstreet 3rds.
Broadstreet turned up to Southam with 13 men, so kindly Catty & Jon Lowden volunteered to play for them. Catty providing some strong carrying and Jon running the Broadstreet backline.
Southam started the game playing with the wind. Fly half Josh Tolley put Southam into the right areas. With added pressure, flanker Oli Arnold scored the first try in the corner.
Broadstreet came back strong, adding some pressure to the Southam line. With some strong tackling by Southams forwards, especially flanker Adam Webster and second row Ian Batchelder. But Broadstreet managed to get over the line.
HT 5 - 7.
In the second half Southam had the wind against them, but it didn’t matter tries came from centre Charlie Munro, fly half Josh Tolley, wing Greg Gillbard and full back Tom Borg scoring two.
Southam dominated the set piece, with some great line out work by 2nd row replacement Kimbo. Southam made some strong ground at the base of the scrum by number eight Joe Brain.
Southam found spaces at the side of the rucks with captain and scrum half Phil Nichols, sniping , but unable to score. Southam played with a smiles on their faces with a good crowed supporting them.
FT 32 - 7
This was Southam’s 4th successive league victory, putting them top of the Warwickshire 2’s league with 8 points clear.
