FAQ Junior & Mini RL
Southampton Spitfires Rugby League Club began running kids rugby sessions in 2011. The information on this page is designed to answer some common questions but if you have anything else you wish to ask please contact Head Coach Glenn Tyreman via the Contact Us section of the website.

What age groups do you cater for:

We currently run sessions from aged 6-10yrs and from 11-16yrs.

What are the age groups and when do they train?

Under 14s - Training Thursday evenings 1830-2030
Under 12s - Training Thursday evenings 1830-2030
Under 10s - Training Friday evenings 1730-1830

What does it cost for my child to join?

Under 14s & under 12s costs just £45.00 for the 2012 summer season. There are no match fees or weekly subs to pay after the initial registration fee.

Under 10s costs just £10.00 for the 2012 summer season and again there are no match fees or weekly subs after the initial registration fee.

How do I register my child?

We recommend that you contact our Head Coach who will assist you with the registration process. You will need to supply the following details for us to be able to formally register your child with The Rugby Football League so that they are fully covered by our insurance and can play in matches.

  • 2 x passport photos of your child
  • Photo copy of their birth certificate
  • Completed player form and medical questionaire signed by the parent/guardian

Can my child play in another age group?

Under 14s - you can be 13 or 12 years old to play in this group
Under 12s - you can be 11 or 10 years old to play in this group

How are the games structured?

Junior and Mini games are 13-a-side, a match-day squad size is 20 players, with unlimited roll-on-roll-off substitutions and are usually 4 x 15 minute periods to allow for adequate water breaks (given that we play in summer). Kick-off times can vary depending on how far the game is away or how far the opposition will have had to travel. We play in the London League so distances can fluctuate.

If you have any other questions please contact Head Coach Glenn Tyreman using the Contact Us section of the website.
