Match Officials

At Southampton we recognise and value the contribution of match officials to the success of our sport and particularly to the league structure in the South of England.
Referees and touch judges play a key part in maintaining and developing the integrity of the game at every level.
Whilst we do not expect that everyone will agree with every decision on every occasion, we do ask that officials and their decisions are treated with respect and that decisions are accepted with sportsman like conduct.
We believe that in the majority of cases decisions balance out over a season or even a single game. Try to remember this and to not be the one who ruins someone else's Rugby League experience.
All supporters, players, staff and volunteers are asked to follow the Rugby Football League's RESPECT values and to help make this club a friendly and welcoming environment.
Equally we ask visiting match officials to act with respect toward players, spectators, volunteers and officials from both sides.
NOTES FOR VISITING MATCH OFFICIALS:
Facilities
Dedicated changing facilities are available on site.
The match officials changing rooms have direct access to a seperate toilet and shower room.
Their is a seperate changing room for male and female match officials.
There is a bell which can be activated from the referee's changing room which can be used to signal to the home and away dressing rooms that the teams should exit onto the pitch.
Kit inspections
Please inform both teams of your intention to carry out a boot/kit inspection whilst they are still in the dressing rooms. This will reduce the likelihood of players having to dash off to change boots or remove piercings and so on when you conduct the inspection before kick-off.
Looking the part
In the images above and below the referees look official and professional.
All match officials are politely requested to wear full RFL standard referee's kit.
Officials attending games without RFL kit will be asked to change into a spare kit kept by the club, before taking to the field. We work hard to promote the image of the sport - please help us to maintain these standards.

Ref-reshments(!)
Food and refreshments are provided to all officials after home games, usually at the Manor pub in Netley, please ask for details on the day.
Directions
There is a map to our home ground available at the foot of this page.
