On Tuesday 2nd June South Devon Cricket Club have the honour of hosting a T20 match to be played against Somerset County Cricket Club. The match is being played as part of Peter Trego’s 2015 Benefit Year, Peter having been a fantastic member of the Somerset team, and one of England’s outstanding all-rounders, for many years.

To host such a game is a huge privilege for South Devon and in fact will be the only 2015 Benefit game held west of Taunton. Somerset is one of England’s leading cricket playing counties with a team packed with top players including several international stars. We are planning a day of celebration at the Club, to be enjoyed by all involved at the Club and the public alike, and which represents an opportunity to promote all that goes on at South Devon as well as all of the facilities and activities of The Rec. The event will be promoted widely throughout the South Devon area, including through the media.

We’ve had an overwhelming response to the pre-match lunch we are hosting, which has unfortunately now sold-out, as has the VIP marquee, which will be open from mid-afternoon and includes seating, a private bar, buffet refreshments (served during the T20 match) and a glass of bubbly on arrival. Prior to the match Somerset CCC players will arrive and mingle with the VIP guests.

Around an hour before the match some of the Club’s “Chance to Shine” Colts will demonstrate their skills on the outfield. At around 5.30 the T20 match, and the promised sporting entertainment, will begin.

To ensure a day to remember a glossy souvenir programme is being produced to contain team photographs and information about South Devon, The Rec and Somerset. The programme will be sold in advance of the day and will allow entrance to the ground. At the ground on site parking is being arranged along with catering and bar facilities around the ground.
