Southend L3s vs Colchester 4s

A home game played at CHSG...

Ladies 3s play home and away in League defeat
Southend Ladies 3s 0-6 Colchester Ladies
Southend Ladies 3 made the journey to Chelmsford High School for Girls to play Colchester who they were tied on points with in the table. They once again had a large squad including Ali Snelling making her 3s debut in Defence.

The team made a bright start to the match showing the calm and collected approach they had worked on in training. However it was soon obvious that Colchester were not a team to be messed with today.

Despite a great defensive effort by Gail Swain, Ali Snelling, Gemma (l6ate) Fitzgerald and Christine Baker, the opposition were given a couple of shorts which resulted in some high hits at goal. The first fortunatally hitting padded up Goalkeeper Eva and the second striking Christine Bakers arm hard.

Despite some hard work by Vicky Jooste, Sadie Hunt and Lauren, Colchester were Suddenly 3-0 up.

Half time: Southend ladies 3 0-3 Colchester Ladies.

The 3s started the second half with the aim of playing well and keeping heads up and this stayed until the end despite Colchester continuing to show that they were a force not to be messed with, scoring another two goals. There were obvious signs of strength and paces with the 3s however they all knew that it was not going to be their day.

The team never showed any signs of tiredness despite the hard work they all had to put in and this was partially thanks to temporary squad coach and hen lover Julie Hunt who provided erfectally timed Subs throughout the match. However, as the game came to an end Colchester scored there sixth goal.

After the game Captain Gail Swain said 'Even though the result does not reflect it, the game really showed how far the team has come collectively this season and also showed how far they are willing to go for each other. Im sure we will take this scoreline with a pinch of salt and focus on the next game.'
