Southend U11s successfully defend their Quins Grand Title plus end of season highlights for Southend M&Y “Our best year yet!”
Our 11s successfully defended their Harlequins Grand Champs Title against many of the finest clubs in the South, 3 weekends, many games. They were on fire game one and played their most total game of rugby thus far winning 30 0 . Game two was a very tough drawn game 5 5 against Guildfordians who have some exciting backs and won the days first forwards encounter. Game three we played very well v Chobham and all of our squad took part , win 30 10 . Then onto the semi v our friends from Teddington, stressful and the usual up front battle , we just just nicked it 5 0. The last game was against Guildfordians who managed to beat London Irish 10 0 in the other semi , another great whole team effort with the forwards reversing the pool game battle, down we were with a levelling try at half time giving us momentum into the second half emerging victorious at 15 5. Full scores and squad below, photo attached showing the half time parade in front of 15,000.
In their 5 year playing history they have secured 19 Trophies including 4 Essex County Cups, 2 Harlequins Cups, a Saracens Cup, Wasps Cup, 3 Newbury Cups, 3 Upminster Cups, Southend Elite Cup and two tour wins at Gulliver’s Burnham and Chichester.
