Club News Update

Club News Update image

It's just about the start of the new season, the junior section kick off next weekend and the seniors follow a week later. So I thought I would take this opportunity to make a few announcements.

Working Party

There is some work left to do at the ground before the start of the season so a working day has been arranged for Saturday 14th April starting 2.00pm. Please come down and lend a hand even if it's just for an hour. There are lots of little jobs to do so that we start the season looking our best.

Contact Details

Can all members please send the secretary their contact details, address, phone number and e-mail address so he can update his list. You can e-mail your details to secretary@southmilford.org.uk

New Players

I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce four new faces to the club for this season. Steve Winspear has joined us from Sherburn, Huw Oeppne from Tadcaster Magnets, Adam Kinghorn from Colton and last but not least Ian Keedy. I know you will make them all feel welcome in the coming weeks and wish them all the best for the season.

Club Captains

The second team captain and vice are the same as last year Steve Korko and Dewi Thomas respectively, but we have a change in the first team with Jonathan Mills taking over as skipper and Paul Hebden backing him up as vice. Please give all your full support as it is a thankless task organising the teams over the season.

Player Availability

Can all players let the club captains know asap their availability for the first few weeks of the season as this will make initial selections much easier. The first weekend of the season sees the first team away to Leeds Police and the seconds playing hosts to Crossgates.

Permenant Batting Nets

Hopefully our battle to get a two bay batting practise net installed at the bottom end of the field is almost over. We should shortly have confirmation of the granting of planning permission by Selby District Council which should lead to the releasing of the money by the South Milford Parish Council. We can then get the contractor in to start the work. Fingers crossed this will happen before the end of May.

Club Website

Can I remind you the club now has a very good website where all the information about us can be found. All the senior & junior fixtures are on it and the results will be added throughout the summer. There will be match reports and team selections will also posted. It is also the first place to look for club news and event information. Galleries of pictures relevant to the club are also posted on the site. New submissions for posting are very welcome. Details are on the site. The address is www.pitchero.com/clubs/southmilford/

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully see you during the season.
