Our last game was on Saturday 16th September 2006 away at Old Mods. Not a great day for us, Mods made 312 for 6 with Dave Tee scoring 105. Plus it took us over 3 hours to bowl our 45 overs. Must have been looking for the ball a lot.

We made 203 for 9 in reply with Paul Hebden top scoring with 58 not out. The teas weren’t up to much either.

2006 was the year the BBC started broadcasting TV in HD, though you would need to spend at least £3,000 for a 50" telly capable of watching it on. Top of the Pops was aired for the last time. New shows for that year were Life on Mars and on C4 The IT Crowd.

In the news John Prescott admits to having an affair with his secretary. Steve Irwin, the Australian nature TV presenter, dies while swimming with stingrays. Richard Hammond crashes a jet powered dragster while filming for Top Gear at Elvington.

The movies of the year were Casino Royale, Daniel Craig’s first outing as James Bond, The Da Vinci Code and 300.

Number 1 in the charts that week was I Don’t Feel Like Dancing by Scissor Sisters. Other hits in the year were Crazy by Gnarls Barkley , America by Razorlight and Madonna was Sorry. Leona Lewis won the X-Factor and had the Xmas No. 1 with A Moment Like This.

So almost 10 years have passed and only 5 of that team are still with the club. Paul Hebden, Steve Korko, John Cain, Adam Gee & Billy Thompson. Oh and the scorer is still marking them in and out.

So this coming Saturday sees the 1st team start their LBA (little big adventure) back in the 1st division away at Shadwell while the 2nd team play host to Long Marston A in division 4.
