Long Marston vs South Milford
Dry at last ...... but oh so cold!
Where has this week gone?! Finally I get the time to write this report .....
Long Marston is located out in the country with open views which is very good on the eye, but frightfully cold when the wind blows! Maybe it is time for me to consider purchasing a "skin" that I often here the team talking about!
Captain Will won the toss and decided to field first. Harrison opened the bowling followed by Louis, then Harrison again. Will was very happy to take our first two wickets - one off Louis' ball and the other off Harrison's. Wicket keeping at it's best! Mitch kept things very tight before Harrison delivered his final over and bowled the opposition. Phillip took the next over, followed by Jude who took yet another wicket. Phillip and Jude each bowled one more over before Will bowled our 5th wicket. Dan gave very little away before Will took our final wicket. Dan, Louis and Mitch kept it tight again before Will bowled the final over which resulted in the only maiden of the match - some great cricketing William!
We entered the crease after a rest chasing 254.
William and Harrision entered the crease looking like they had a lot to give! .... and give they did .... William hit a 4 from the first ball, followed by another two 4s in the same over. In fact, he hit eight 4s from 18 balls and one 6 - some good going! Harrison had not much choice but to wait patiently however when he did face the bowlers, he only faced 6 balls and got two 4s himself. William achieved a score of 48 not out - which must be an under 11 record although I stand to be corrected. Dan and Phillip were next, some more good cricket with Phillip scoring 28 not out - Dan did not get chance to face many balls and between them only one wicket was lost. Mitch and Louis next in gradually increasing our lead and losing only one more wicket. Dan and Jude were our final batters - Dan was selected to bat again by the opposition as we only had 7 players - Dan scored 25 out once - brilliant!
The final score was South Milford 329 vs Long Marston 254.
Person of the Match was Will, taking 4 wickets (2 stumped, 2 bowled) and 48 runs - well done William!
Needless to say we did not hang around much longer as a warm bath was much needed! Thanks to all parents who take time out of their day to bring their children to play.
Thank you also to my hubby, Dewi, who umpired today and who has finally defrosted a few days later .... you do a great job organising the field.
