South Park travelled to Raynes Park Vale on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways following their league cup exit in midweek. It did not take long for Park to get into their stride with Ward firing wide from distance. Lock’s ball from the right wing flashed across the 6 yard box but there were no Park players there as the ball was cleared. He home sides major threat in the initial stages came from the long throw. Michael Smith blocked a shot from the edge of the box. With 25 minutes on the clock Michael Smith’s exquisite through ball pierced the home defence for David Smith to run onto and lob the keeper form 22 yards to give Park the lead. Burgess cut in from the left but as he was about to shoot lost his footing. Wastell’s long clearance beat the back line but Lock’s shot was saved by the keeper. With half time approaching Miles cleared a through ball with the Vale attacker bearing down on him.

The home side attacked straight from the kick off forcing Wastell to parry a stinging drive and O’Sullivan cleared the danger. O’Sullivan found Michael Smith in space but his 25 yard shot sailed over the bar. Lavery’s flick on found Burgess who found the back of the net only for the goal to be ruled out by the assistant referees raised flag. Lock running through onto a loose ball was challenged on the edge of the box and the danger was cleared. Midway through the second period the home side began to exert some pressure. Miles twice blocking goal bound efforts. Lavery and Lock both hit efforts wide as Park looked for the second goal to kill the game off. The home side won a corner in the 80th minute after long ranger effort was deflected wide. The corner was flicked on at the near post and Moore reacted first to nod home the equaliser from close range. Immediately from the re-start Michael Smith’s ball inside the full back found Burgess but his left foot shot just went over the bar. The home keeper pushed Lavery’s effort wide as Park ran out of time and had to settle for a point.

Park now have three consecutive home games, starting with the visit of Camberley Town on Saturday. Wembley are the opponents on Tuesday before the FA Carlsberg Vase 1st round tie against Colliers Wood United on Saturday 22nd October.
