Silverdale Primary Academy victorious at South Saxons Hockey Tournament.

On Friday 23rd October we held our annual Primary Schools hockey tournament at Horntye Park. The event was well attended by local primary schools with over 70 children, from years 5 and 6, taking part in pre-tournament coaching sessions led by our team of qualified England Hockey Coaches.

Hockey was played in good spirit with many close fought games. None closer than the final between Sacred Heart and Silverdale. Both teams played well, with play going end-to-end, and little to choose between the two teams. At full time the score remained level at 0-0. The final ended in a penalty shootout with Silverdale wining 3-2 and lifting the Primary Schools Trophy.

Club Chairman Jeremy Bunday presented the coaching teams shield for ‘outstanding player of the tournament’ to B. White from Sacred Heart.

Final Placings:
1st Silverdale Primary Academy A (Gold medalists)
2nd Sacred Heart A (Silver medalists)
3rd Ark Blacklands A (Bronze medalists)
4th King Offa
5th Sacred Heart B
6th Ark Blacklands B
7th St. Michaels CoE
8th Silverdale Primary Academy B

Saxons Junior Development Coach Paul Merison said, "the idea is to get our local youngsters playing and enjoying hockey. They were all really enthusiastic and created a great atmosphere by cheering on their team mates. The children impressed our coaches who spotted a number of talented youngsters who clearly have a flair for the game. We hope that they take up the club offer of Sunday Coaching Sessions".

Saxons junior coaching sessions re-start at Horntye Park after the half term break on Sunday 8th November 2015, 10:00-11:30 a.m.

A big thank you to the following coaches and club members who helped out on the day. Tim Eldridge, Jeremy Bunday, Rob Whitehouse, Amelia Acott, Caitlin Merison, Ed Chapman, Steve Jenner, Nate Webster, Lynn Upfold and Alice Chadwick.
