History
Based in the beauty of Far North Queensland, Southside represents the people of the southern suburbs of Cairns. Since its inception in 2005 Southside Rugby has developed both on and off the field. Fielding local teams not only in rugby, but touch football, and netball over the years.
Cairns District Rugby Union A grade semi finalists in 2008, Southside has shown that it will be a force in Cairns Rugby for some time, with what has become a trademark style of play of big hits and an expansive, running attack.
Southside is proud of the cultural diversity of its team, welcoming players from all corners of the globe. Current members of the club hail from all parts of Australia, from the Torres Strait to Tasmania. New Zealand and the South Pacific are also stongly represented in the make up of our club.
