Here we go! One more BIG match for Wickers this season

Sussex Plate Final 2015/16
Southwick Ladies 1sts vs South Saxons Ladies 1sts
12.30, 7th May 2016, Lewes Southdown Club

The Ladies teams love a cup final don't they?
They certainly do! We have had either the 1sts or 2nds closing the season out with a shot at cup glory in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014

6 of the last 8 seasons then!
Yep, I wish the mens cups were organised by league as well and might have some more chance of siverware for both genders!!

Stop moaning! What is our ladies finals record like?
4 out of 5!!! - 3 out of 3 for the 1sts
2009 (VASE) Southwick 1sts 3-0 Burgess Hill 2nds
2010 (VASE) Southwick 1sts 1-1 Brighton 4ths (won 3-1 pfs)
2011 (SHIELD) Southwick 2nds 3-1 Horsham 5ths
2013 (VASE) East Grinstead 2-0 Southwick 2nds
2014 (SHIELD) Southwick 1sts 4-2 Chi Centurions

That's good then!! Right who are we playing...
South Saxons 1sts - who finished 3rd in our division while we finished 6th

Oh no! Not blooming Saxons... they stitched our mens 1s up!!
Well 100% chance for revenge for the whole club then!!

True, true... what are the league records like?
Saxons came down to league one from the premier league at the end of last season, and so these were the first league meetings for some time between the two. Both were played in late 2015
(Sept 2015) Southwick (J.Hewitt) 1-4 Saxons (Scorers Unknown)
(Nov 2015) Saxons (Cooper, Gransden, Marriot) 3-0 Southwick

Ok... so we are due a win then!
Yes, we can put the 1st game down to experience, and a trip to Hastings is never easy is it - from Saxons match report the 2nd one sounded like a tight game till they scored 2 quick goals.

The league means nothing when it comes to the cup though!!
Form book goes out the window in the cup COME ON WICKERS!!

How did we get here?
Wick got a bye in the last 16. We then faced 2 Chi teams, beating division lower Centurians 2-1 in Chichester
The semi was crazy, we went 4-0 up before seeing it go level at 4-4 and then, after scoreless extra time, sneaking through on pens at home against Div 1 Chichester 2nds

And Saxons?
They have had an easier run with 2 games against Div 2 opponents starting with a long trip and a 3-0 win over Middleton in the Quarters.
The semi was pretty easy - a 7-0 hammering of Div 2 Brighton 4ths

What's the team looking like?
As far as I know no injury problems, Jess will be back in goal having missed the Semi-Final and the majority of this team includes the core of the side that won the shield 2 years ago. So have big match experience! (Winning team from 2014 pictured)

All to play for then!
Certainly this could really go either way whilst Saxons are the odds on favorites, we have the experience and ability in our side to get goals and pull off a win - either way a final is a great way to end the season and the ladies can enjoy the day out

Get yourselves down for this one next Saturday if we can please lads / ladies & juniors!!!
