It is with the deepest of regret that we have to inform all members of our club of the sudden and unexpected passing of Justin Barker, Under 6 Coach and Senior Nomads player.
In the very short period Justin had been a member of this club, his infectious enthusiasm and drive and his “can do” attitude has had a galvanising effect on the youngsters he coached, and the parents he engaged with, as well as his incredible energy which has helped drive enthusiasm throughout the Mini Section as a whole. We will miss his presence enormously.
In addition to his work with the Minis, he put his playing boots back on again after a few years of not playing, and his energy and enthusiasm was felt by not only The Nomads that he played for, but all of the Senior squad he trained with.
In recent weeks he travelled to watch the First XV and became a keen member of the side-line staff, bringing on water and adding his enthusiastic support.
We offer our most heartfelt condolences and support to his wife Natalie, son Olly, daughter Yasmin and all of his family at this saddest of times.
As a mark of respect, we are suspending all Rugby related activity at the club over this weekend, whilst we all take stock and spend the time thinking of Justin and praying for his family.
In due course, we will communicate details of how, when and where Justin’s life will be mourned and celebrated .
On behalf of the Children, Parents, Players , President and members of Spalding RFC
