So Long Kingy - Thanks For The Memories!

5 years ago By Non-League Webmeister

A bitter-sweet bit of transfer manouevering this week saw the Tulips welcome back TJ Nightingale but lose Gary King to Corby Town...

Spalding United's Gary King has played his final game for the side having this week signed dual-registration forms with Corby Town of the Blue Sq Bet North.

It's a step up for King, the Tulips' prolific marksman and though he's only been with the club a few short months (having joined from Stamford AFC at the end of January), he certainly left his mark, perhaps most notably when he scored that stunning opening goal in a sadly futile contest vs Guernsey in the FA Vase 5th Round on 9th February (photo, below).

A chirpy, competitive, personable & popular player, Gary's presence will be missed on and off the pitch but, as a former player himself, manager Pat Rayment has always recognised the desire for young players to test themselves at a higher level and so it is that Gary will be shirting up for Corby, where he's played previously, with management's blessings.

It goes without saying that all of us wish 'Kingy' all the very best in his new surroundings - he probably won't miss the constant postponement of Tulips' matches, but we hope he looks back fondly on his short time with us as much as we enjoyed having him here...

Where next?

Match on 23.03.13 - POSTPONED!!! The scheduled match at home to Cogenhoe United today (23rd March) has just been called off due to SNOW!...
They Say More Snow's A Comin'! Weather reports today warn of yet another dip in temperature and a good chance of more snow by the weekend...
