Tulips 3 v Kings Lynn Town 2 (Friendly)

Tulips Snatch Dramatic Late Winner

Callum Earls fired a dramatic late winner as Spalding United edged a pre-season thriller with King’s Lynn Town 3-2 on Saturday, while Deeping Rangers drew 3-3 with Lincoln United.

In the game of the day at Spalding’s Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, the Tulips raced into an early 1-0 lead when Miles Chamberlain bundled home Francis Green’s free kick on eight minutes.

Pat Rayment’s side, which included new signing Scott Musgrove, enjoyed much the better of the first period and held the lead up until half time.

It was a different story after the interval, with ex-Long Buckby duo Dan Quiqley (52) and Russ Dunkley (76) turning the game on its head. Quigley nodded home from close range, while striker Dunkley notched from all of a yard following a corner.

Spalding weren’t done though – and after Tom James saw a penalty saved (79), Ben Good levelled with a towering header a minute later.

More drama was to follow, as Earls finished off a cracking move with a superb near-post strike in the final minute to complete a cracking comeback.

It’s the second Saturday in a row that Rayment’s charges have beaten higher-graded opposition – and once again, they were full value for their win.
