To say it's been something of a tumultuous few weeks on the player departure front, following news of the recent budget cuts, would be something of an understatement but Tulips' manager Chris Rawlinson is quietly confident that the latest exit - which sees Tulips' defender Paul Walker leave to join Step 2 side Boston United - is the last we'll see for the foreseeable future...
'Walks' has been an integral part of the club's upward trajectory and virtually an ever-present in the Tulips' line-up since his arrival two and a half seasons ago. As soon as he landed in Tulipsville (having been released by Grimsby Town in 2015), his ability in the right-back defensive position was clear for all to see and we have no doubt, that at just 22, he has many more successful years ahead of him at Step 2 (and hopefully above).
The club would like to extend every thanks to Paul for his devotion/commitment and contributions in his time with the Tulips and we wish him all the very best with Boston United.
Though a player of his quality might well be sorely missed, the club can but look toward the future and hope that 'the next Paul Walker' is ready & waiting to step up to the plate.
This Saturday 2nd December we look forward to welcoming everyone connected with Alvechurch FC for a crucial NPL Evo-Stik South encounter.
After five successive, but far from demoralising, 2-1 defeats, you can rest assured the Tulips will be gunning to break that losing sequence, though it will be a big ask against the second-placed 'Church' from the Midlands. Kick-off is scheduled for the time-honoured 3.00pm and we look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, where the gates/turnstiles will be open from 1.00pm!...
Let's all get behind the manager, staff and players as we strive to turn the corner: "Go Tulips!!!!"
