Chris joined the Tulips in May 2016 as Assistant Manager to former Lincoln United boss, David Frecklington. The pair formed a dynamic partnership which saw the South Holland team emerge as strong title contenders from the start of the 16/17 campaign.

The unexpected departure of Frecklington in February 2017 (for Gainsborough Trinity) saw the board move quickly to appoint Rawlinson as the new Commander-In-Chief in Tulipsville, convinced he was the right man to continue the job.

Rawlinson's calm yet tcommanding leadership saw the Tulips kick on to have their best-ever season since the club's formation in 1921 and they were unfortunate to miss out on ultimate glory at the end of 2016/17, foiled as they were in their bid for promotion to Step 3 by a 2-1 defeat at Witton Albion in the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South Play-Off Final.
