Was the 2-1 win as comfortable as the website editor thought? Read on.......

An excellent 2-1 win over senior opposition and although we were very comfortable and establishing our passing game at 2-0, the age old adage of a 2 goal lead being the worst lead in football came home to bite when we conceded through an unforced error. However, we must turn a negative into a positive here and realise that not only were we dominating possession, tempo and rhythm of the game and creating good scoring chances we also negated our opponents attack. Credit where credit is due there in all honesty as although we did concede, Canterbury City did not actually create it.

Slowly and surely we are making excellent progress in terms of style of play and as a management team it's brilliant to see so much adaptability from our players. We really do have an excellent group of players in the squad and the depth of talent and the attitude levels are excellent.

2 goals up by half time before conceding within 10 minutes of the re start brought a different dimension to the game which altered the proceedings. It visibly hurt our lads to concede and it raised the tails of our more physical and direct opposition. However - what a response! Not one Seven Acre player felt sorry for himself and they rolled up the sleeves, dug in and under the intensity of severe provocation and some cold nasty "challenges" etc , to a man they refused to retaliate as our Club,Team,Players,Management attitudes and mind sets were solely focused on seeing the game out in a positive manner. We still created numerous chances and without deserved another goal or two. In fact our play deserved a 3 or 4 goal lead according to most supporters in the bar afterwards before we conceded but we were full of admiration for how our lads did not succumb to the perils of frustration and instead drew mentally and physically as a unit to end the game victorious. Qualities such as honesty, valour, courage, intelligence, drive and focus matched the technical ability. Now though, that bar has been set. As a club ,we go again to improve. Between committee, management, supporters, sponsors ( if any body is reading this - we need more please! ) and players I get the feeling that we are all humble and genuinely hard working and that's a great base to build from. A great night all round, well done to EVERYBODY involved.
