Springs Santas sleighed by youthful Lytham Veterans

On a bright but nippy winter day, much fun was had by Springfields' older lady members playing in a friendly fixture against Lytham Hockey Club. Current and past players joined together to re-live their finer hockey moments and revive their hidden competitive streak.

Springfields donned Text Santa hats for the occasion to help raise money for ITV’s Christmas charity appeal and provide a little festive cheer to the occasion. Half time oranges were replaced by Bucks Fizz (Thanks to Lytham for this....although we think this was a secret victory ploy) and refreshments were enjoyed by all afterwards in the club house. Springfields would like to thank Gilly Shields of Lytham Hockey Club for all her hard work organising the day.

The Team, captained by Springfields stalwart Fran Loffler-Thompson hope to invite Lytham back for revenge the return leg so Springfields star striker(??) Cathy Fewson can try and score more than 4 goals and for Lindsey Tait to improve on the 15km she ran during the game. Special mentions to Lou Bamber and Louise Eastham who dusted down their hockey sticks for the occasion!

Thanks to Chris ‘veterans’ veteran’ Hills for umpiring on the day...but we know you didn’t take much persuasion.....

And finally, can you guess who is under that Springfields goalie kit?
