Both the FA Cup and FA Vase draws took place this afternoon to give Gate another fixture ahead of the start of the season.

We’ll start with the FA Cup where we’ll face a familiar foe in West Didsbury & Chorlton on Saturday 11th August in the Extra Preliminary Qualifying Round.

This will be the second time in recent seasons that the two have met after our 3-2 win at Brookburn Road in 2016. You can read our full report here where early goals from Brett Dawson and Ric Seear gave Gate a 2-0 lead before a 72nd minute Joe Noblet goal sealed the win for Gate after a West comeback. The winners of the tie will receive £2,250 in prize money whilst the losing side will get £750.

The winners of the tie will then face Evo Stik West side Droylsden on Saturday 25th August in the Preliminary Qualifying Round. The Manchester side finished 13th in the Evo Stik North last season. The winners of this tie will receive £2,890 with the losers taking away £960.

In the FA Vase Gate have received a first round bye from the First Qualifying Round which is due to be played Saturday 1st September.

In the Second Qualifying Round, Gate will travel to the winners of Armthorpe Welfare v Worsbrough Bridge Athletic on Saturday 15th September.

It will be new opposition for Gate who will travel to either Doncaster or Barnsley for the tie. Armthorpe Welfare currently play in the ToolStation Northern Counties East First Division where last season they finished 16th in the league on 46 points. Worsbrough Bridge Athletic play in the same league and finished 19th on 33 points, four points above the relegation places.
