Gate host Burscough FC tonight at The Brian Addison Stadium, read our preview of the game here...

Gate return to The Brian Addison Stadium for our first home game of the 2018/19 season.

Pre-Match Build Up
Gate come into the game with a point to our name after a draw away at Silsden on Saturday.
The opening day of the season saw Gate come minutes away from a win but Silsden manager Danny Forrest popped up after subbing himself on with minutes left to equalise for his side.

Gate came out in the first 20 minutes on fire with both their movement and passing which the homeside couldn’t deal with.

Gate had several chances in the first half but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Stricker Ric Seear finally found the net after 20 minutes when he latched onto a through ball. Seear who has returned to the club from Kendal Town, ran through past a stranded keeper before rolling into the empty net.

After coming back into the game in the last 30 minutes, the homside equalised. Former Bradford City striker Danny Forrest popping up in the box after subbing himself on to equalised with minutes left.

The Away Team
Burscough opened their league season with a 2-1 defeat at home to Hanley Town.
Joshua Thorpe opened the scoring for Hanley Town after 15 minutes before Chad Whyte equalised on 38 minutes. The game, like Gate’s, looked destined for a draw before Joshua Thorpe won the game for Hanley in the 86th minute.

Burscough have managed to keep the majority of their squad together from last season keeping key players Chad Whyte, Terry Cummings and Alex Parkes. They have lost keeper Josh Samberg though who has joined 1874 Northwich.

Last Time We Met
The two sides last met in the last game of last season where Burscough confirmed their league status with a 6-0 win.

Chad Whyte gave the Green’s an early 2-0 lead going into half time with goals in the 32nd and 39th minute.

Peter Henerty then extended the visitors lead in the 52nd minute before another two goals from Chad Whyte in the 64th minute and 80th minute.

Peter Henerty then added a second goal in the 90th minute in a day to forget for Gate.
