Gate are back home this weekend, read our preview of the game here...

Another game against the league leaders City of Liverpool, lets hope we can get a win over The Purps this time…

Pre-Match Build Up
Gate come into this game sat 7th in the form table after some recent encouraging performances.

Wins against Litherland Remyca, Ashton Athletic and Irlam saw Gate start to pick up form before a 2-0 loss against Charnock Richard on Boxing Day. Gate returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win against Whitchurch Alport before losing to City of Liverpool on Saturday.

The Away Team
City of Liverpool come into this game sat top of the league with 60 points. Craig Robinson’s side have picked up nineteen wins, three draws and lost just two of their 24 league games.
Liverpool have took a dip in form in recent weeks suffering their only two defeats of the season though one did come against high league opposition in Widnes in the Liverpool Senior Cup. 1-0 wins against Abbey Hey and Winsford United came either side of a 2-0 loss against Bootle on Boxing Day.

Their last game ended in a 2-1 win against another promotion hopeful in Northwich Victoria. Vics took the lead in the game through Billy Whittle in just the fourth minute. The Purps though showed good fight as they did against Gate to comeback from going behind the win the game. Luke Denson levelled the game in the 36th minute before striker Thomas Peterson won the game in the 59th minute.

Last Time We Met
Gate and City of Liverpool last met this past weekend at The TDP Solicitors Stadium.
Gate took the lead in that game after just 17 minutes. Good link up plan between James Boyd and Ryan Riley in midfield set Ric Seear through on goal and the striker did what he does best finding the back of the net.

The 36th minute saw Gate doubled their lead in unfortunate circumstances for the homesides keeper. A simple looking back pass was completely missed by him with the ball trickling under his foot and into the back of the net.

Gate looked good for going into the break 2-0 up but the homeside had other ideas. Craig Cairns latching onto a through ball to beat Ben Fletcher before the break.

Just two minutes into the second half Liverpool continued their fightback as Anthony Brown headed in from a corner to level the game.

Liverpool completed the comeback in the 70th minute when Jack Hazlehurst finished well.
