Our Buildbase FA Vase campaign gets underway with a trip to Barnsley this Sunday.

Pre-Match Build Up
Gate come into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat away at Barnoldswick Town on Tuesday night.

Gate made a nightmare start to the game conceding after just two minutes. A missed header fell to striker Jack Coop who made no mistake firing low past Ben Fletcher.

The homeside then doubled their lead on nine minutes when James Crorken scrambled in the ball after Ben Fletcher had saved the original shot.

Gate grabbed a goal back in the 12th minute when Ric Seear headed past keeper Livesey when Dan Gray found him in the box.

Although Gate went on to have several chances, they just couldn’t find another goal.

The Home Team
Worsbrough play in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Division One at step six.
This season they’ve got of to a good start winning six and losing just one game. They sit in joint second place in the league with Nostell Miners Welfare on 18 points from seven games.

Their only loss came at home to Dronfield Town who beat them 2-1 back in August.
Striker Joe Dungworth hit good form in August scoring four goals in the opening four games.

Manager Lee Morris brings with him plenty of experience at the helm having played 38 times for Sheffield United, 92 times for Derby County and 34 times for Yeovil Town to name just a few of his previous clubs. In his managerial career He’s managed Goole and Frickley Athletic whilst being on the coaching team at Eastwood Town, Loughbrough Dynamo and Sheffield FC.

Last Time Out
Worsbrough have already played a game in this competition, beating Armthorpe Welfare 2-1 in the First Qualifying Round.

Worsbrough came close after six minutes but Joe Dugworth’s shot prodded past the keeper was cleared off the line by Carrick.

The visitors took the lead into stoppage time of the first half when Jack Wilson stretched out a leg to divert the ball past the keeper from six yards out.

They doubled the lead just after the break when Fidel Mholo picked up the ball and ran from his own half before beating two players and firing past the keeper to double the away side’s lead.

Jason Kearsley reduced the arrears when he came on as sub on the 75th minute knocking in Williams cross at the near post.

Head to Head
This will be the first time the two sides have met in any competition. Against sides from the Yorkshire area Gate have a decent record recently.
Gate have beaten Maltby Main twice in FA Cup competitions winning 3-0 and 1-0 just two seasons ago.

We then played out two superb games with Barton Town Old Boys drawing 2-2. Gate were 2-0 up with two goals from Josh Kay before the homeside fought back to force a Tuesday night replay. In the replay Gate then came back from 2-0 down to get it back to 2-2 before two late goals won it for Barton.
