Squires Gate travel to New Mills this weekend for our final game of the 2016/17 season.

Gate travel to recently relegated New Mills looking to move up to fifth bottom with a win after a hit and miss season.

Gate come into the game on the back of possibly their most important win of the season last Saturday which confirmed our league status. It was the league's form team against the team with the worst form that went head to head and Gate busted a few coupons and turned a few heads with a late 3-2 win. Gate started off looking very competitive against Linnets who had large spells of possession before taking the lead after 27 minutes. Perhaps a stroke of luck in the goal with Daniel McKenna credited for the direct corner going straight in. Gate would then level the game five minutes before half time. A long ball forward by Paul Carroll was controlled by Brett Dawson before he played the ball through to Tarren Moxon. Moxon controlled the ball before flicking it over the onrushing keeper and tapping into the empty net. Gate would then go onto take the lead 75 minutes into the second half. Brett Dawson in the right place at the right time to head home at the back post. Linnets would come back again four minutes later when Stuart Wellstead turned and fired low in the box. Gate would then win the game 10 minutes later when Brett Dawson struck again. He pounced on the Linnets keepers error and kept his calm to slot past the keeper sparking wild celebrations.

Saturday's hosts New Mills, come into the game having had their relegation confirmed this past Saturday after failing to beat Irlam. They come into Saturday's game in good form having won three of their last six games. This past mid week they beat Padiham 3-2 with an 86th minute winner from Jake Pollard. Their home form has been impressive with seven wins and three draws, though their away from has been their downfall with only one win.

Last six games: WLDWLW

Head to head since 2009 Gate and New Mills have met nine times with New Mills winning on six occasions. Gate have only won twice once in the FA Cup and once this season in the league.
