Stanley Mugisha prodded home in the 34th minute as Neil Kitchings men headed back to Marston Road with all three points.
Meanwhile main play off rivals Gresley and Spaling United could only manage 1-1 draws against Tividale and Stocksbridge respectively, meaning that the Boro made up valuable ground on their rivals.
