The Boro took the lead on 33 minutes thanks to some good work down the right hand side by Thompson. He beat the Whitby left back. He then squared it to Alan Nagington who smashed the ball home from close range. Whitby drew level on 45 minutes when a Whitby striker took the ball past skipper Ryan Dicker who was judged to bring the forward down resulting in a penalty and a straight red for Dicker. Mark Robinson converted the penalty to draw the scores level at half time. It got worse for Rangers before it could get better as Matthew Tymon put Whitby ahead with 51 minutes gone. Rangers then pulled themselves right back into the game thanks to some good work on the edge of the box by centre back Lee Mcanulty, He poked the ball into the path of the impressive Neville Thompson who slotted home with a cool finish to draw Stafford level at 2-2. Young keeper Jordan Wood who replaced Danny Read in the Rangers goal in the first half due to a nasty looking hip injury. Wood picked up the ball on the edge of his box with the Whitby number 10 blocking his path. Wood appealed to the ref to move the number 10 back however instead the ref penalized Wood for holding the ball for more than 6 seconds and rewarded Whitby an indirect free kick on the edge of the box. Whitby took it quickly with most of the Rangers and Whitby team in the other half and they slotted the ball home. However that was not an end to the scoring at Marston Road. A Rangers free kick just inside the Whitby half was chipped in by Left back Jon Sheldon. His long ball dropped just under David Campbells cross bar and into the net to earn the Rangers a hard earned point.
