Adam Bessent tells us his thoughts on our preseason programme and his hopes and aspirations for the season ahead at the Lammas.

Adam says "Safe to say it has been a busy couple of months since getting the job mid May. Bringing in the right coaching staff, talking to potential players and sorting pre-season arrangements with Phil and the rest of the committee certainly kept me on my toes in the first few weeks of the job.
In the days leading up to our first training session it was clear to see that we would be building a new squad from scratch, only 3 players have returned to the club after last season. We had to bring in players quickly but also make sure those players had the quality to compete in the Combined Counties, they had the right attitude and that they would buy in to what the club are trying to achieve now that we are back home at The Lucan Pavilion. I believe we have assembled a squad of 20 or so players who tick all those boxes.
Like any pre-season there have been ups and downs. On the training pitch, Myles, Steve and Jake have all contributed to us having a solid football based programme and the players have responded well to everything we have asked of them. Out of our 6 friendlies we have played 4 teams who ply their trade in the CCL Premier, in all 4 games we competed well in patches, scored some good goals and our performances against Bedfont Sports and Badshot Lea were especially pleasing. Last Sunday however, we had a timely reality check against Laleham, our cohabitants at The Lucan. We were second best in every department and got what we deserved. A reminder that no matter how much we’ve progressed in the last 6 weeks we still have a long way to go.
Due to holidays, family functions, work commitments etc some of our lads are only meeting for the first time over the last fortnight or so. The early signs are positive that we can turn this group of players into a strong squad that will do well this season but they will need time to gel. The club as a whole is in transition, a lot of work needs to be done to the ground so that we can remain a CCL team in the near future and the committee have been working hard already to make sure this happens. It is only right that we replicate that hard work on the football pitch and despite our new beginnings, we will be setting high standards and looking to win every game in the right way".

Good luck to Adam and the lads in our first league match away to Frimley Green in the CCL Div 1.
