Staines Lammas suffered our first defeat of the season at the hands of local rivals Abbey Rangers in a well fought contest 2-1.

After winning our first games of the season Lammas were trying to make it 3 in a row but fell just short against Abbey Rangers.

Lammas failed to get there passing game going last night and we were guilty of giving away silly free kicks all over the park which ultimately cost us the game.

The first half was not a pretty game to watch, both teams preferring to go long ball instead of getting the ball on the deck, neither keeper was really put to work in the first half of the game and the score was 0-0 at half time.

In the second half Lammas opened the scoring with a great strike from Ross Nunn, who scored his fourth goal in three games. Abbey did not look like scoring until they were awarded a dubious penalty which they converted.

Abbey went a head when Lammas were again guilty of giving away free kicks in dangerous areas, the Abbey forward stepped up and slotted the ball home through a crowded box of players.

Despite this defeat the Lammas have done the club proud in the last three games, we've played with heart, hunger and a desire to do well, we've played some great football and it was great to see that last nights defeat hurt and I am confident that on Saturday they will do all they can to win the game.

Final score Abbey Rangers 2-1 Staines Lammas

Up The Lammas!
