season opener! Information about the weekend.

The London Youth & Mini League 9’s will be the launch pad for the 2012 season. The events will showcase all our regional participants along with allowing our experienced, new and emerging coaches, volunteers, managers and supporters further exposure to the game. The remit will be focused around:

• All participants being given the opportunities to perform pre-season.
• Fun, friendly and welcoming environments for all members of the rugby league community.
• A positive first experience of rugby league for all new comers.
• A chance to register all players before the start of the regular season.
• Upholding the RESPECT campaign.

The tournaments will be held at 4 separate venues, which can be seen below.

Registration: New players can register on the day but for those who are already registered please bring their pink slips and or photocopies of their re-registration forms. We will assist you where we can in forms of registration, be aware that we will still need your signatures and parents consent for the forms.

Festival Format: PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL BE ALLOCATED YOUR POOL PLACE UPON ARRIVAL AFTER YOU HAVE REGISTERED YOUR TEAM.

Croydon U’12s:
• 11 teams: 1. Brentwood, 2. Skolars, 3. St. Albans, 4. Staines, 5. Brixton, 6. Croydon, 7. Elmbridge, 8. Medway, 9. Nehwam, 10. Barking and Dagenham, 11. Hemel.
• There will be 2 pools of 5 & 6 played across 2 pitches. Each pitch will have 2 sub pitches within them, playing with the touchline as try line and a dead ball line marked out.
• Each team in each pool will play each other once in an 8 minute game for the pool of 6 and a 10 minute game for the pool of 5 (one way, no half time).
• The top 2 teams from each group will progress to the semi final of the Cup (1st from pool 1 V 2nd from pool 2, 1st from pool 2 V 2nd from pool 1), the winners of those games playing in the Cup final.
• The 3rd and 4th teams from each group will progress to the semi final of the Plate (3rd from pool 1 V 4th from pool 2, 3rd from pool 2 V 4th from pool 1), the winners of those games playing in the Plate final.
• There will be a performance medal for the player of the tournament.
• In the event that one or more teams pull out of the competition, the organisers will find a format that fits best for the teams in attendance.

Hemel U’14’s:
• 15 teams: 1. Brentwood, 2. Eastern, 3. Skolars, 4. Hemel, 5. Richmond, 6. St. Albans, 7. Staines, 8. Brixton, 9.Croydon, 10. Elmbridge, 11. Greenwich, 12. Medway, 13. Southampton, 14. Barking and Dagenham, 15. Newham.
• There will be 3 pools of 5 played across 3 pitches.
• Each team in each pool will play each other once in 10 minute games (one way, no half time).
• The top teams from each group will progress to the semi final of the Cup (1st from pool 1 V 1st from pool 2, 1st from pool 3 V the best runner up from all pools – based on points in group / best attack / best defence), the winners of those games playing in the Cup final.
• The remaining 2nd placed teams will play off with the best 3rd placed for the Plate in an open draw.
• There will be a performance medal for the player of the tournament.
• In the event that one or more teams pull out of the competition, the organisers will find a format that fits best for the teams in attendance.

Elmbridge U’16’s:
• 12 teams: 1. Brentwood, 2. Eastern, 3. Barking & Dagenham, 4. Skolars, 5. Hemel, 6. Staines, 7. Croydon, 8. Elmbridge, 9. St. Albans, 10. Medway, 11. Richmond Warriors, 12. Brixton.
• There will be 2 pools of 6 played across 2 pitches in 9 minute games (one way, no half time).
• The top 2 teams from each group will progress to the semi final of the Cup (1st from pool 1 V 2nd from pool 2, 1st from pool 2 V 2nd from pool 1), the winners of those games playing in the Cup final.
• The 3rd and 4th teams from each group will progress to the semi final of the Plate (3rd from pool 1 V 4th from pool 2, 3rd from pool 2 V 4th from pool 1), the winners of those games playing in the Plate final.
• There will be a performance medal for the player of the tournament.
• In the event that one or more teams pull out of the competition, the organisers will find a format that fits best for the teams in attendance.

Greenwich U’18’s:
• 8 teams: 1. Storm, 2. Eastern, 3. Barking and Dagenham, 4. Skolars, 5. Elmbridge, 6. Staines, 7. Greenwich, 8. Medway.
• There will be 2 pools of 4 played across 2 pitches.
• Each team in each pool will play each other once in 12 minute games (one way, no half time).
• The top 2 teams from each group will progress to the semi final of the Cup (1st from pool 1 V 2nd from pool 2, 1st from pool 2 V 2nd from pool 1), the winners of those games playing in the Cup final.
• The bottom 2 teams from each group will progress to the semi final of the Plate (3rd from pool 1 V 4th from pool 2, 3rd from pool 2 V 4th from pool 1), the winners of those games playing in the Plate final.
• There will be a performance medal for the player of the tournament.
• In the event that one or more teams pull out of the competition, the organisers will find a format that fits best for the teams in attendance.

Points of interest:
• Each festival will begin at 11:00am so please aim to arrive for 10.15am at each venue.
• There will be a registration table available to ensure all your players who are yet to register can fill out their forms and be signed off by a CWO.
• To raise money for the league that will be used to develop our regional clubs, each venue will charge a nominal £3 for entry. This excludes players and 2 coaches per team.
• There will be a member of the London Youth, Junior and Mini League Management Group present at each venue to answer any questions surrounding the seasonal structure.
• Each festival will be played in either group or round robin format with a plate and cup final.
• There will be a trophy for the winning teams of the plate and the cup.
• There will be an award for the player of the tournament at each age group.
• We are unable to provide food for the players but there will be refreshments available to purchase and we advise that all players bring a packed lunch.
• If you have squads of more than 20 players it is at the local festival organiser’s discretion to allow your club to enter 2 or more teams into the tournament.
• Remember, if you do not enter a team into the 9 a-side competition (i.e. 9 or more players) your club will not be allowed to enter that team in to the 2011 Youth and Junior league structure.
