It is just over a month since the AGM and the new committee has been working hard to get things moving for next season.
We have had confirmation regarding our coaches for next season.
You will no doubt be pleased to hear that Harry Casson (Ealing Trailfinders 2nd row) will be taking Thursday evenings pre-season, then working with Richard Hope who we can formally announce is back as head coach/player.
The club has thanked Laurence for his work when he took over from Richard and hopefully will still see him at the club supporting us.
Gents we have gone to a lot of hard work to maintain our coaching staff and source our new fitness (S&C) instructor so we do expect big numbers to make use of this very expensive program but you are all well worth it !!!
Please get involved from week one and make this a season one to remember.
Strength and Conditioning (S&C)
Paul Mather and Tony Stevenson have met with our new S&C coach who will be getting you ready for next season, taking every Tuesday through July and August starting on Tuesday 3rd July.
PLEASE attend these sessions so we are prepared for next season. The fitter we are the less injuries will occur, with less time spent in the physio room. The new S&C coach is Adam Henderson - ex army of ten years; personal trainer/S&C for last 15 years, as well as competitor/sportsman.
He is a real hard task master and will put you through your paces.
The first session will start at 7.10pm so that he can assess our individual fitness and potential injuries etc. Each session will last from 7.30pm - 8.30pm so being on time ready to start at 7.30pm is essential.
These will be full-on tough sessions but will mean we will start the season with the right attitude.
Herts University Rugby
Members of the club committee met with the Herts Uni Rugby club committee last week prior to their departure for the summer vacation. Jacob Swain (SARFC 1st team centre) will be the University 1st XV captain next season. Their new committee has recently been voted-in for 2018-2019 and they are all very keen to continue with the successful relationship (playing and social!) developed between SARFC and the University Athletic Union/ Rugby Club over the last couple of years. It is hoped that this relationship will further introduce both established rugby players and those new to the game to SARFC so that they can experience the atmosphere at a club that combines both enjoyable rugby and a fantastic social spirit.
At SARFC we are continuously looking to increase our playing membership at ALL levels. Having been successful in fielding two (2) sides regularly last season, it is now our target to put out a regular 3rd team during 2018-2019.
So, players and members; please put “feelers” out amongst work colleagues, friends and pubs/clubs to bring down players to enjoy the experience of playing for SARFC.

Early Season Availabilities
Updated 10:17 - 7 Jun 2018 by Terry Evans
Paul Mather has sent out a request on social media for ALL players to advise/confirm their availabilities for games in September.
Gents, this is a very important season for the club. The committee has invested a lot of time, effort and energy to introduce a S&C fitness instructor (at your request) and maintain the coaches from last season. Paul Mather has been working flat-out (as usual) to put things into place for us all to hit the ground running. It is now up to you as players to make use of these resources.
