DATCHWORTH 3RDS 13 - 17 ST ALBANS 3RDS

St Albans 3rd XV fixture against Datchworth typified the vitality of grass roots rugby. Ancient hulks next to fine young saplings. The STA3 from last year reformed and were impressive throughout. The issue was "ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!" and this game plan worked . In fact the only time we defended we shipped an easy try right in front of the STA3's Captain's nose! A fine sight he was stamping about under the posts with no one to blame but himself!
Never the less the ATTACK! move was to reap rewards. From forward smash to back sublime, the team recorded THREE great scores, all team effort, ball was recycled and shipped, sweet hands put the Judgement of the Lord over twice. In a very physical game, such connections were the stuff of legends. No back foot. Only attack.
The STA3 loose head prop completed a forwards move from a penalty, reaching Premiership Style over the line to dot down the winning score. The Scrum half Andrew Still slotted the conversion to put a retaliation penalty out of reach of Datchworth who had to run their final penalties. Real nail biting stuff as the Datchworth 10 stormed the St Albans line only to be held up by new KEVIN HOLMES, who drove the fly half back. A great effort!
Man of the Match was SAM DALBY who jinked through 4 players and was SMASHED by the Datchworth no 6. He got straight back up and made the next crunching tackle. INSPIRING! He is 17!
Again I can only laud the heros who pulled on the Blue and Gold. A real tight game and EVERYONE knew this is what we do:
